Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has now completed its 14th round of invitations for Express Entry in 2023,\u00a0issuing 4,800 more\u00a0Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence (PR) to Canada. This is the second straight draw where IRCC has issued 4,800 ITAs.\u00a0As today’s draw marked IRCC’s ninth all-program draw of the year, this is also the first draw IRCC has conducted since officially announcing last week that category-based Express Entry draws are expected to begin sometime later this summer.<\/p>\n
Note: All-program draws will consider applicants of all three Express Entry\u00a0programs –\u00a0the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program\u00a0(FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) – for an ITA.<\/p>\n
Express Entry candidates who managed to receive an ITA in\u00a0today’s draw\u00a0all had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System\u00a0(CRS) score of 486. This cut-off score is down two points from the last all-program draw on\u00a0May 24, 2023\u00a0(minimum CRS score of 488).\u00a0<\/p>\n
Those who missed out on an ITA\u00a0in today’s draw can expect IRCC to issue their next round of invitations\u00a0in two weeks.<\/p>\n
About Express Entry<\/p>\n
Express Entry, the application management system that handles\u00a0immigration applications from three programs (the\u00a0CEC, the FSWP, and the FSTP) is Canada’s primary method of immigration at the federal government level.\u00a0<\/p>\n
These programs assist the federal government with attracting foreign skilled workers to Canada, which Canada requires to maintain a strong level of economic and social development.\u00a0“In exchange” for\u00a0the help that these immigrants provide by aiding Canada’s workforce,\u00a0international skilled workers who are interested in immigrating to Canada\u00a0are given permanent residence in this country, which affords them the same rights and freedoms as Canadian-born citizens.<\/p>\n
To become a Canadian permanent resident through one of the three programs under\u00a0Express Entry, interested candidates must first self-verify their eligibility for at least one of the three programs under the Express Entry application management system. Then, all eligible candidates can create an online profile on IRCC’s website, which will formally enter them into the pool of candidates eligible to receive an ITA through an Express Entry draw.\u00a0

At this time, candidates\u00a0must wait until IRCC issues their next round of invitations in an upcoming Express Entry draw. Typically, these draws occur once every two weeks. When these draws take place, eligible candidates in the pool who have\u00a0a CRS score above the\u00a0cut-off score (for that particular draw) will receive an ITA for Canadian permanent residence.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Receipt of an ITA triggers the transition from Express Entry candidate to Express Entry applicant, at which time\u00a0candidates will have\u00a060 days to submit an\u00a0electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR) to IRCC.<\/p>\n
