{"id":112,"date":"2024-08-21T10:04:04","date_gmt":"2024-08-21T10:04:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigration-services.org\/?p=112"},"modified":"2024-08-21T10:04:04","modified_gmt":"2024-08-21T10:04:04","slug":"ircc-announces-details-of-category-based-express-entry-draws","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration-services.org\/?p=112","title":{"rendered":"IRCC announces details of category-based Express Entry draws"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/images\/_1200x630_crop_center-center_82_none\/CanadaVisa-News-July-6-take-2-R.jpg?mtime=1657309014\" alt=\"Immigration Services\">  <\/p>\n<p>In a move that will mirror\u00a0Canada\u2019s existing program-specific draws under the Express Entry\u00a0application management system,\u00a0Immigration Minister Sean Fraser\u00a0has announced the launch of category-based selection draws.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These draws, which are expected to begin later this summer,\u00a0will allow Canada to invite skilled workers to this country with work experience in our most in-demand professions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fraser hopes that these new targeted draws will support Canada\u2019s commitment to welcoming in-demand professionals into communities across the country.<\/p>\n<p>IRCC\u2019s six new groups for Express Entry category draws include candidates with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong French language proficiency<\/li>\n<li>Work experience in Healthcare<\/li>\n<li>Work experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) professions<\/li>\n<li>Work experience in Trades professions<\/li>\n<li>Work experience in Transport occupations<\/li>\n<li>Work experience in the Agriculture and Agri-Food industry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Important: To be eligible for one of IRCC\u2019s occupation-based category draws (see the category list below), Express Entry candidates must have at least six months of consecutive work experience in one of the eligible industries over the last three years. This work experience can be in Canada or abroad.   Candidates that hope to be eligible for category-based draws under the French language proficiency category\u00a0have a minimum score of 7 in all 4 language abilities on the Niveaux de Comp\u00e9tence Linguistique Canadiens.<\/p>\n<p>A full list of eligible occupations under the new categories is available here.<\/p>\n<p>How were these six categories chosen?<\/p>\n<p>These six specific\u00a0categories were chosen &#8220;following legislative requirements that [Fraser] participate in public consultation with provinces and territories, members of industry, unions, employers, workers, worker advocacy groups, settlement provider organizations, and immigration researchers and practitioners.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As part of these new category-based draws,\u00a0IRCC will report to Parliament on the following subjects every year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Categories that were\u00a0chosen the previous year<\/li>\n<li>Why and how they were chosen<\/li>\n<li>Instructions to establish a category<\/li>\n<li>Number of invitations issued for each category<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What is Express Entry?<\/p>\n<p>Express Entry is Canada&#8217;s top federal immigration method, designed to help the government bring skilled workers to this country from abroad. The Express Entry application management system manages immigration applications from three programs\u00a0&#8211; the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).<\/p>\n<p>Until now, the primary selection criteria for candidates who received an\u00a0Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence (PR) to Canada was their\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
