Canada held its largest ever Express Entry draw on November 18, inviting 5,000 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residence.<\/p>\n
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for this draw was 472.<\/p>\n

This draw brings the total number of invitations issued in 2020 up to 92,350, surpassing the year\u2019s Express Entry target of 91,800.<\/p>\n
Canada is now well on its way to surpass 100,000 invitations before the end of the year.<\/p>\n
Last month, Canada announced its plans to welcome over 400,000 new permanent residents every year between 2021 and 2023. At least 100,000 of these will come through the Express Entry system.<\/p>\n
In this draw, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule. This means that in case of a tie between candidates, those who had a CRS score of at least 472 must have submitted their Express Entry profile before October 27 at 06:18:11 UTC to receive an invitation.<\/p>\n
What is Express Entry?<\/p>\n
Express Entry is the system that the federal government uses to manage applications through Canada\u2019s three main economic class immigration programs:<\/p>\n
There are also various Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) that are aligned with the Express Entry system.<\/p>\n
Candidates that submit an Express Entry profile are placed in the pool, and are assessed based on their age, work experience, education as well as language proficiency in English or in French.<\/p>\n
The candidates with the highest scores may then receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw. In this draw, Canada invited the 5,000 candidates with the highest scores. Express Entry draws usually occur every two weeks.<\/p>\n
