In the fifth all-program draw of 2023,\u00a0IRCC once again\u00a0considered candidates from all three programs managed under Express Entry\u00a0– the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).<\/p>\n

After a surprise draw last Thursday,\u00a0today’s\u00a0draw saw IRCC once again issue 7,000 invitations to individuals in the Express Entry pool, matching the record for the largest all-program draw in history that was set\u00a0on March 15, 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This afternoon’s draw invited\u00a0Express Entry\u00a0candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 481, down a further three points from the cut-off score in last week’s draw\u00a0(minimum CRS score of 484). This marks the second consecutive draw where the cut-off CRS score has dropped, coming less than one week after the CRS score dropped six points following the March 15th draw (minimum CRS score of 490).<\/p>\n

Although Express Entry has been unpredictable in 2023,\u00a0candidates who are still in\u00a0the pool should expect another draw in about two weeks.<\/p>\n

About Express Entry<\/p>\n

The Express Entry application management\u00a0system is used by Canada’s federal government\u00a0to handle immigration applications from\u00a0three programs – the CEC, the FSWP and the FSTP. These programs work together to\u00a0bring foreign skilled workers into this country because Canada uses Express Entry as one means of offering\u00a0permanent residence (PR) to interested candidates.<\/p>\n

The Express Entry system for immigrating to Canada as a permanent resident\u00a0involves the following general steps:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Verifying, as a\u00a0foreign national interested in Canadian PR, that you are\u00a0eligible for at least one of the three programs under Express Entry<\/li>\n
  2. Submitting an Express Entry profile online through IRCC. Simultaneously, this will give candidates an opportunity to review their CRS scores.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Once a candidate submits their online Express Entry profile,\u00a0At this time, they must keep an eye out for when\u00a0IRCC conducts another Express Entry draw. At this time,\u00a0if the candidate has a CRS score that exceeds the cut-off score chosen for that particular draw,\u00a0they may receive an\u00a0Invitation to Apply (ITA)\u00a0for PR in Canada.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    Note:\u00a0ITAs are considered the “key” to permanent residence in Canada\u00a0because only upon receiving an ITA can Express Entry candidates apply\u00a0to become permanent residents in Canada this country.<\/p>\n

    Candidates will have 60 days from when they\u00a0receive their ITA\u00a0to complete and submit an online application\u00a0for Canadian PR to IRCC. In other words,\u00a0ITAs serve as the true “key” to permanent residence\u00a0in this country because foreign national applicants through Express Entry\u00a0can\u00a0only apply for permanent resident status in Canada once they hold an ITA.\u00a0<\/p>\n
