In the department’s second Express Entry draw this week, IRCC has\u00a0issued an additional 5,000\u00a0Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in a round of invitations for\u00a0Canadian Experience Class (CEC)\u00a0candidates. All ITA recipients from this draw had a\u00a0minimum\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 510.<\/p>\n

Today’s draw follows a\u00a0Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw yesterday (July 30, 2024), which saw IRCC issue 964 ITAs to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 686.<\/p>\n

Express Entry<\/p>\n

Express Entry is the name given to the system used by Canada’s immigration department to\u00a0handle applications for three economic programs – the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the CEC.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As of June 2023,\u00a0IRCC issues ITAs through\u00a0three different types of Express Entry\u00a0draws:\u00a0General,\u00a0Program-specific and\u00a0Category-based.<\/p>\n

General and Program-specific Express Entry Draws<\/p>\n

General and program-specific Express Entry draws prioritize the selection of immigration candidates based on their CRS score.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Note:\u00a0CRS scores are the numerical values assigned to each eligible Express Entry candidate, used by IRCC to rank candidates against each other based on a variety of factors. Some of the factors used to determine a candidate’s CRS score are their age, their education, and their ability to speak one or both of Canada’s official languages.<\/p>\n

As outlined below, there are three general steps in the Express Entry process for candidates who are eligible for IRCC’s general and\/or program-specific draws.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Confirming your eligibility for\u00a0at least one of IRCC’s three\u00a0Express Entry-managed programs<\/li>\n
  2. If deemed eligible,\u00a0creating an online profile with IRCC*\u00a0<\/li>\n
  3. Waiting for the next\u00a0Express Entry draw from IRCC<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    *It is at this time, during step two, that eligible Express Entry candidates will receive their CRS score<\/p>\n

    Note: In order to\u00a0receive an ITA, a candidate’s individual\u00a0CRS score must be greater than\u00a0the department’s cut-off for a given Express Entry draw. Without this invitation,\u00a0no Express Entry candidate will be permitted to submit an\u00a0electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR) to IRCC.<\/p>\n

    Category-Based Express Entry Draws<\/p>\n

    First introduced in May 2023,\u00a0category-based draws are a new way for\u00a0IRCC\u00a0to bring in immigration candidates who can address Canada’s most pressing labour market and demographic needs using\u00a0specific types of\u00a0work experience and\u00a0proficiencies.<\/p>\n

    Note:\u00a0IRCC conducted its first category-based draw on June 28, 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    For this year,\u00a0IRCC has chosen\u00a0to target immigration candidates who possess the following attributes:\u00a0<\/p>\n
