This marks the department&#8217;s sixth* such draw in 2024.\u00a0Today&#8217;s draw saw IRCC issue ITAs to candidates who all had a\u00a0minimum\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 400.<\/p>\n<p>*The only other category that has received more than one category-based draw in 2024\u00a0is Healthcare<\/p>\n<p>IRCC&#8217;s July 18 draw follows two draws that have taken place in the last two days. The details of those draws are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Express Entry<\/p>\n<p>Express Entry is the name given to IRCC&#8217;s\u00a0application management system for economic immigration applications to three specific\u00a0permanent residence (PR) programs. The three programs managed under Express Entry are:<\/p>\n<p>Notably, IRCC has issued ITAs to immigration candidates through three\u00a0different draw types as of\u00a0June 2023. These three draw types are:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>General draws<\/li>\n<li>Program-specific draws<\/li>\n<li>Category-based\u00a0draws<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The remainder of this article will describe the difference between these draw types.<\/p>\n<p>General and Program-specific Express Entry Draws<\/p>\n<p>On one hand, general and program-specific draws can be grouped together even though general draws target candidates from all programs and program-specific draws are more narrow. This is because\u00a0both of these draw types focus on\u00a0Canadian immigration candidates who have the highest\u00a0CRS scores.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Note:\u00a0CRS scores are what IRCC uses to rank Express Entry candidates against each other based on scores decided using values for each candidate&#8217;s human capital.\u00a0Some of the factors that determine a candidate&#8217;s CRS score are their\u00a0age, education, and work experience (among others).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The following is a brief summary of the steps involved with obtaining an ITA as an\u00a0Express Entry candidate who is eligible for\u00a0general and program-specific draws:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Confirm eligibility\u00a0for at least one of the three programs managed by the\u00a0Express Entry application management system<\/li>\n<li>Create your online IRCC profile with IRCC and receive your official\u00a0CRS score<\/li>\n<li>Wait for IRCC to issue ITAs in its next round of invitations to see if you will receive an ITA<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Note: It is important to understand that, in order to\u00a0receive an ITA during an Express Entry draw, your individual CRS score must be higher than\u00a0the department&#8217;s cut-off for that specific draw. ITAs are also the only way you, as an Express Entry candidate, will be allowed\u00a0to submit an\u00a0electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR) to IRCC.<\/p>\n<p>Category-Based Express Entry Draws<\/p>\n<p>After introducing category-based draws in May 2023, IRCC confirmed this past February that it will be using the same six target categories for this draw type throughout 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Note:\u00a0This draw type was\u00a0introduced to allow IRCC a pathway to welcome immigration candidates\u00a0with specific types of\u00a0work experience and\u00a0proficiencies.
