On May 9, 2017, Nova Scotia’s Office of Immigration updated its website to state that ‘Currently all Nova Scotia Immigration applications associated with Nova Scotia\u2019s online service are unavailable.’ This announcement comes the day after technical issues with the online intake system triggered a pause on the intake of applications to the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream, part of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP).<\/p>\n

The NSNP has announced that both Category A (for applicants with a job offer in Nova Scotia) and Category B (for applicants with experience in one of 16 opportunity occupations) of the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream\u00a0would open to receive applications on May 8. While technical problems meant that Category B was paused early on May 8, the website of the Office of Immigration stated that applications for Category A would still be received.<\/p>\n

However, as of May 9, this is no longer the case as the Office of Immigration has paused access to its online service. Consequently, access to applications through other NSNP streams that are managed online, including the Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry and Nova Scotia Skilled Worker streams, is unavailable. The NSNP did not give an expected date or time for service to resume. The NSNP also stated that ‘Nova Scotia Demand is expected to open and close over the next year,’ a move which the province expects will allow for greater efficiency in the processing of applications.<\/p>\n

The NSNP, one of Canada\u2019s Provincial Nominee Programs\u00a0(PNPs), allows the government of Nova Scotia welcomes new permanent residents who have the ability to settle in the province.<\/p>\n
