Prince Edward Island invited 153 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination in its latest monthly pre-scheduled draw.<\/p>\n
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) held the draw\u00a0on May 20.<\/p>\n
Most of the invitations,\u00a0137, went to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates. The remaining 16 invitations went to Business Impact candidates.<\/p>\n
These Business Impact candidates needed a minimum point threshold\u00a0of at least 62.<\/p>\n
PEI’s Express Entry category is an “enhanced”\u00a0Provincial\u00a0Nominee Program\u00a0(PNP). This means that it\u00a0is aligned with Canada’s federal Express Entry system.<\/p>\n
Express Entry is the management system used\u00a0by the Canadian federal government to manage applications for the three main economic class immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).<\/p>\n
Candidates in the Express Entry system are ranked according to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This score takes into consideration the candidates’ education, work experience, age language proficiency in English or French, and adaptability.<\/p>\n
Those who receive\u00a0a provincial nomination from any province, are awarded\u00a0an additional 600 CRS points. This practically guarantees an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.<\/p>\n
PEI’s Labour Impact category is for foreign candidates who have a valid job offer in the province with support from their employer. This category is further divided into three streams:<\/p>\n
Candidates who are interested to apply under\u00a0this category are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.<\/p>\n
The province’s Business Impact category includes the Work Permit Stream. This allows entrepreneurs to come to the province on a work permit before receiving a provincial nomination for permanent residence.\u00a0<\/p>\n
So far this year, PEI has invited nearly 700 immigration candidates to apply under these provincial streams.<\/p>\n
