The Canadian province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) will be hosting a series of Express Entry information sessions for employers next week. The sessions will be run by the Office of Immigration and Department of Workforce and Advanced Learning, in conjunction with the federal department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC, formerly known as CIC).<\/p>\n
These sessions are designed for both the federal government and the provincial government to give presentations on how their programs can benefit PEI employers looking to attract skilled workers\u00a0to fill gaps in their labour force, and to give employers a chance to ask any questions they may have.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, federal Immigration Minister John McCallum stated that\u00a0\u201cthe challenge with me is to improve express entry to make it more flexible, more fluid, more accessible, more desirable for those businesses wanting to bring immigrants to this country,\u201d<\/p>\n
Last year, 163 candidates for immigration to Canada through the Express Entry selection system obtained an enhanced provincial nomination certificate through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). While this was not the largest number of certificates issued by any province, it was the highest per capital participation rate of any province (PEI has the lowest population of any province).
