In IRCC’s first Express Entry\u00a0draw in nearly three weeks, the department has\u00a0issued another 1,499\u00a0Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. All ITA recipients from today’s draw had a\u00a0minimum\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 663. <\/p>\n

Express Entry<\/p>\n

Express Entry, the name of\u00a0IRCC’s\u00a0application management system for applications to the following\u00a0three permanent residence (PR) programs, has issued ITA through three different types of draws since June 2023.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The three economic-class immigration programs handled under Express Entry are:<\/p>\n

The difference between these draw types will be detailed below.<\/p>\n

General and Program-specific Express Entry Draws<\/p>\n

These\u00a0two draw types, which prioritize immigration candidates based on their CRS scores*,\u00a0have been part of IRCC’s\u00a0Express Entry system since the inception of Express Entry back in\u00a02015.<\/p>\n

*CRS scores are the values that IRCC\u00a0assigns\u00a0to eligible Express Entry candidates based on human capital factors, including\u00a0age, education, and work experience (among others).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The following briefly describes the steps involved with the Express Entry process for general and program-specific draws:\u00a0<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Candidates must confirm that they are eligible for at least one Express Entry-managed program (see list above)<\/li>\n
  2. Eligible candidates create an online profile with IRCC, during which time\u00a0candidates receive their CRS scores<\/li>\n
  3. Wait for IRCC to conduct its next Express Entry draw*<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    *This is when\u00a0a candidate will know whether they\u00a0will receive an ITA.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    Note:\u00a0To receive an ITA during any given draw, candidates must have a CRS score above the department’s cut-off for that round of invitations. It is also worth noting that ITAs are the only way an Express Entry candidate can submit an\u00a0electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR) to IRCC.<\/p>\n

    Category-Based Express Entry Draws<\/p>\n

    Category-based draws, which were first conducted in\u00a0June 2023, were introduced as a way for IRCC\u00a0to\u00a0attract Canadian immigration candidates\u00a0with specific types of\u00a0work experience and\u00a0proficiencies.<\/p>\n

    The targeted categories were chosen by the department based on what the government deemed to be Canada’s most\u00a0“in-demand” attributes.<\/p>\n

    In 2024,\u00a0IRCC has chosen\u00a0to focus on candidates with the following work experience and proficiencies:<\/p>\n
