The CEC is an immigration\u00a0program aligned with the federal Express Entry system. It allows those who have work experience in Canada to become permanent residents. Candidates need to have at least one year of eligible work experience.<\/p>\n
Those who were invited during this draw needed to have a score of\u00a0462 according to the\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)\u00a0in order to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA). They now have 60 days to apply for permanent residence.<\/p>\n
This draw was later than expected. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) usually hold CEC-only draws\u00a0one day after holding PNP-only draws. This means that\u00a0today’s CEC-only draw was expected on September 2.<\/p>\n
PNP is the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), the federal immigration program that allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate candidates to address their economic and labour market needs.<\/p>\n
Express Entry draws have been program-specific (PNP and CEC) since the beginning of pandemic-related health and safety measures. Most of the candidates eligible for these two programs are likely to be already in Canada on a temporary visa.<\/p>\n

So far in 2021,\u00a0Canada invited almost double the number of immigration candidates compared with this point last year.<\/p>\n
Canada has so far invited 108,414 candidates this year. This means that the country is expected to exceed its target of 108,500 candidates in 2021.<\/p>\n
The CRS score requirements have been fluctuating throughout the year. PNP draws usually have higher minimum requirements because candidates get an additional 600 points with their provincial nomination.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Canada uses the\u00a0Express Entry system to manage permanent residence\u00a0applications through Canada\u2019s three main economic-class programs<\/p>\n
Candidates in the Express Entry pool\u00a0are given a score according to the CRS.\u00a0This score is based on many factors\u00a0such as\u00a0their age, work experience, education, and their language proficiency in French or English.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Candidates who get an\u00a0invitation to apply must\u00a0submit their application. After that, IRCC will make a final decision.<\/p>\n
If successful, candidates\u00a0will get a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) as well as a visa sticker on their passport if they need one. The final step would be to move to Canada and receive their Permanent Residence (PR) card.<\/p>\n
