Canada invited a total of 463\u00a0Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates to apply for permanent residence on August 18. These\u00a0candidates had to have a\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)\u00a0of at least\u00a0751 to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).\u00a0Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination\u00a0are awarded\u00a0an extra\u00a0600 CRS points towards their CRS score.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Canada also issued invitations to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates on August 19. In that draw invited candidates were required to have a CRS score of at least\u00a0403.<\/p>\n
Since the introduction of travel restrictions in March 2020, Canada has held several program-specific draws, such as the ones that took place over the past two days.<\/p>\n

Express Entry is the system that the Immigration,\u00a0Refugees and Citizenship Canada(IRCC)\u00a0uses to manage permanent residence\u00a0applications for Canada\u2019s three main economic-class programs:<\/p>\n
Candidates with an\u00a0Express Entry profile are given a CRS score. This score is based on their age, work experience, education, and their proficiency in French or English.\u00a0CRS points can be awarded to one individual or to a couple.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Candidates with the highest CRS scores\u00a0in the Express Entry pool are invited to apply for permanent residence (PR) in regularly held\u00a0Express Entry draws.<\/p>\n
Once a candidate is invited to apply for PR, they\u00a0may submit an complete\u00a0application to IRCC so a final decision can be made.\u00a0 If a candidate is successful, they will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and a visa on their passport if they need one to enter Canada. The final step would be to move to Canada and receive their Permanent Residence (PR) card.<\/p>\n
The two draws\u00a0held over the past two days\u00a0bring the total number of invitations issued this year\u00a0to 105,779. This is almost double the number of invitations issued at the same time last year.\u00a0 To date, IRCC has conducted 32 rounds of invitations, alternating in equal numbers between PNP and CEC specific draws.\u00a0\u00a0In 2021, Canada hopes to admit 108,500 Express Entry candidates.<\/p>\n
Admissions through the Express Entry system count towards Canada’s annual intake target of more than 400,000 immigrants for the next three years.<\/p>\n
Candidates who wish to immigrate to Canada through Express Entry first have to create a profile and enter the pool. Express Entry profiles can be valid for up to one year.<\/p>\n
Canada aims to process PR applications submitted through Express Entry within six months.<\/p>\n
