Canada invited 512 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residence. Those who received an invitation were\u00a0Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. This draw was held on August 5.<\/p>\n
The minimum\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)\u00a0score needed to receive an\u00a0Invitation to Apply (ITA)\u00a0for this draw was 760.<\/p>\n
Immigration candidates who get a certificate of nomination from a Canadian province\u00a0get an additional 600 CRS points. This suggests that the minimum core points needed, without the additional points, was just 160. Having a high score such as this effectively guarantees getting an ITA in the next Express Entry draw.<\/p>\n
A day after this Express Entry draw,\u00a0Canada held another draw, inviting\u00a03,000\u00a0Canadian Experience Class (CEC)\u00a0candidates to apply for permanent residence.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The minimum score that candidates needed for this draw was 404.<\/p>\n
Canada is yet to hold an all-program Express Entry draw. The country has been focusing on PNP-specific and CEC-specific draws since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is because of the travel restrictions that have been put in place since March 2020.<\/p>\n
As we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and as the travel restrictions are eased, we may see the first all-program draw of the year sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n

The Express Entry system is used by Immigration,\u00a0Refugees and Citizenship Canada\u00a0(IRCC) uses the Express Entry system\u00a0to\u00a0manage Canadian permanent residence\u00a0applications made\u00a0under one of\u00a0the main\u00a0economic-class programs:\u00a0the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP),\u00a0the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0Canadian Experience Class (CEC).<\/p>\n
All Canadian provinces and territories except for Quebec and Nunavut are part of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), and have\u00a0immigration streams aligned with the federal Express Entry system.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Candidates who have an\u00a0Express Entry profile are given a CRS score, based on the information you provide on your profile. This includes factors like\u00a0your age, education, work experience and language proficiency.<\/p>\n
Canada regularly invites the highest-ranking candidates with Express Entry profiles\u00a0to apply for permanent residence in an Express Entry draw.<\/p>\n
If you get invited to apply, you can submit\u00a0your application to IRCC, who will then make a final decision.\u00a0You can expect your application to be processed within around six months.<\/p>\n
If you are successful, you can get\u00a0a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and a visa on your passport if you need one to enter Canada. Finally, you will have to move to Canada and get your\u00a0Permanent Residence (PR) card.<\/p>\n
Canada is committed to meeting its immigration targets this year and is looking to invite many more people to apply for permanent residence. The country is\u00a0looking to welcome over 400,000 immigrants every year until 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n
