Twenty-four percent were immigrants themselves, while another 24 percet had at least one parent born outside of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of these millionaires were self-made, building their wealth from modest beginnings. Only 20 percent of survey respondents attributed part or all of their wealth to inheritance.<\/p>\n<p>The survey also revealed a surprise regarding the gender of these affluent individuals: fully one third were women. This is up from just 21 percent three years ago.<\/p>\n<p>One of the important traits many millionaires had in common was a good education.
