{"id":3552,"date":"2024-10-17T15:11:13","date_gmt":"2024-10-17T15:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigration-services.org\/?p=3552"},"modified":"2024-10-17T15:11:13","modified_gmt":"2024-10-17T15:11:13","slug":"government-announces-faster-removal-of-foreign-criminals-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration-services.org\/?p=3552","title":{"rendered":"Government Announces Faster Removal of Foreign Criminals Act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/images\/_1200x630_crop_center-center_82_none\/handcuffs.jpg?mtime=1656366794\" alt=\"\" title=\"\">  <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Handcuffs\" src=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/images\/_newsThumbnail\/handcuffs.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/> <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Handcuffs\" src=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/images\/_newsThumbnail\/handcuffs.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney introduced new legislation last week that will expedite the removal of certain foreign criminals from Canada, thus ensuring the continued safety and security of Canadians.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Faster Removal of Foreign Criminals Act<\/em>, which is not yet in effect, will concentrate on three main areas:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Making it easier for the government to remove dangerous foreign criminals from the country;<\/li>\n<li>Making it more difficult for those who are determined to pose a risk to Canada to enter the country; and<\/li>\n<li>Removing some barriers for genuine visitors who want to come to Canada<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The proposed legislation will streamline the deportation process for some convicted criminals by limiting their access to the Immigration Appeal Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board. In the past, some convicted criminals could delay the deportation process for extended periods of time.
