Holders of a valid COPR can now travel to Canada<\/p>\n
Travellers with a valid COPR can travel to Canada beginning June 21, 2021.\u00a0Travellers who wish to complete their landing in\u00a0Canada must have a valid COPR document. Those with an expired document will have to renew it before travelling.<\/p>\n
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will be working with holders of expired COPRs to reissue new documents. More information on when and how to do this will be released in due time.<\/p>\n
These individuals will not need to go through the immigration process again.<\/p>\n

A COPR is a document that Canada issues to those who have been approved to immigrate to Canada and become permanent residents.<\/p>\n
This means that a holder has met all the required criteria, paid their fees and passed health, security and criminality screenings.<\/p>\n
Canada easing requirements for fully vaccinated travellers<\/p>\n
Fully vaccinated travellers can travel to Canada without being subject to the quarantine requirement beginning July 5, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. They will not have to stay at a government-approved hotel, and they will also not be required to take a COVID-19 test on day-8.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This includes approved permanent residents with valid\u00a0COPR documents.<\/p>\n
Travellers still need to be exempt from travel restrictions to be allowed into Canada. Those allowed into Canada include Canadians,\u00a0permanent residents, valid COPR holders, some temporary workers and international students attending a designated learning institution with a COVID-19 readiness plan.<\/p>\n
In addition, all travellers to Canada will need to take a COVID-19 test before travelling to Canada, and upon arrival in Canada.<\/p>\n
Travellers can show a negative COVID-19 test administered within 72 hours before arriving in Canada, or show a positive COVID-19 test administered between 14 and 90 days prior to travelling to Canada.<\/p>\n
Vaccinated travellers have to submit their COVID-19 related information on the ArriveCAN mobile app.<\/p>\n
Travel is currently restricted to just four major airports in Canada: Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary.<\/p>\n
Canada extends\u00a0India travel ban<\/p>\n
Canada has extended the travel ban for all direct passenger and business flights from India until July 21, 2021. The travel ban was not extended for Pakistan.<\/p>\n
The travel ban was introduced in\u00a0April 22, 2021 amid rising COVID-19 cases in India, particularly of the delta variant.<\/p>\n
The ban was set to last for 30 days,\u00a0until May 22, and was extended another 30 days until June 21.<\/p>\n
Only cargo flights carrying vaccines and protective equipment will be\u00a0allowed into Canada.<\/p>\n
Those who wish to travel to Canada from India may still be able to do so. They will need to travel via an indirect route with a long layover in a third country. They will need to get a\u00a0COVID-19 test from their last point of departure.<\/p>\n
