Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, recently announced that the Canadian Citizenship study guide has been updated to include more information about Canada. The updated guide, Discover Canada: the Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship, can now be ordered or downloaded from Citizenship and Immigration Canada\u2019s website, www.cic.gc.ca<\/p>\n

Changes made to the guide include information on Canadian values, which newcomers are expected to embrace upon becoming Canadian citizens.<\/p>\n

\u201cDiscover Canada\u00a0has been an immensely popular publication among newcomers and established Canadians,\u201d Minister Kenney said in a statement on Monday. \u201cThe guide is being read by a wide variety of people from citizenship applicants to students and families. And it has sparked a national conversation about who we are as Canadians.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect people who want to become Canadians to have a good understanding of their rights and responsibilities, and the values and institutions that are rooted in Canada\u2019s history,\u201d Minister Kenney added. \u201cThis study guide has strengthened the value of Canadian citizenship.\u201d<\/p>\n
