A recent poll from Sigma Analytics indicated that a majority of Saskatchewan residents agree or strongly agreed that immigrants are hard workers who contribute to the Canadian economy.<\/p>\n
Immigrants accounted for over 60% of the population growth in Saskatchewan last quarter. While some immigrants arrive through the Canadian Federal program, many immigrants are now arriving through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), which has over 8 categories that immigrants may qualify under. It is expected that over 11,000 immigrants will arrive in Saskatchewan this fiscal year through the SINP, a considerable increase from the 92 families who immigrated through the SINP in 2001-02.<\/p>\n
Of the immigrants who arrive in Saskatchewan, over 86% choose to remain in the province, encouraging stability and integration into the community. The majority of immigrants who arrive in Saskatchewan come from China, Ukraine, and the Philippines. This large influx of immigrants means that employers have a large variety of workers to choose from. As job opportunities continue to increase in the province, it is expected that even more immigrants will choose to settle in Saskatchewan.<\/p>\n
