Canada invited\u00a0Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates to apply for permanent residence. These\u00a0candidates must have had a\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)\u00a0of at least\u00a0753 to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).\u00a0<\/p>\n
The CRS score may seem high. This is because\u00a0those who receive a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 CRS points, meaning invited candidates needed only 82 core points to receive an ITA.<\/p>\n
Program-specific draws such as this one became commonplace after the Canadian government introduced temporary measures in March 2020 to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Some of these measures include\u00a0closing the border to non-essential travel\u00a0and implementing travel restrictions.<\/p>\n

Express Entry is the system that the Immigration,\u00a0Refugees and Citizenship Canada\u00a0(IRCC)\u00a0uses to manage permanent residence\u00a0applications for one of\u00a0Canada\u2019s three main economic-class programs<\/p>\n
Many provinces and territories\u00a0have their own immigration programs that are aligned with the federal Express Entry system.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Immigration candidates in the Express Entry system are awarded a CRS score.\u00a0This score is based on multiple factors,\u00a0such as their age, work experience, education, and their proficiency in French or English.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Canada regularly invites the highest-scoring candidates in the Express Entry pool to apply for permanent residence.<\/p>\n
After receiving an invitation, candidates are required to submit their applications, after which IRCC make a final decision. There may be processing delays due to COVID-19.\u00a0If a candidate is successful, they will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence and a visa on their passport if they require one. The final step would be to move to Canada and receive their Permanent Residence (PR) card.<\/p>\n
This draw bring the total number of invitations issued so far in 2021\u00a0to 49,390. By the same time last year, this number was 26,500. This big difference between 2020 and 2021\u00a0boils down\u00a0to\u00a0Canada’s historic Express Entry draw that\u00a0held on February 11. In that draw,\u00a0a total of 27,332 CEC candidates were invited.\u00a0The minimum CRS score required for that draw was a mere 75.<\/p>\n
Canada aims to invite many more people throughout the year to apply for permanent residence. The country is well on its way to meet its targets as per the Immigration Levels Plan.\u00a0Canada is looking to welcome over 400,000 immigrants every year between 2021 and 2023. For 2021, Canada aims to welcome 108,500 immigrants under Express Entry.\u00a0Canada is aiming to welcome 110,500 immigrants in 2022 and 113,750 in 2023.<\/p>\n
Despite the COVID-related travel restrictions in place, candidates who wish to submit their Express Entry profile may still do so. IRCC continues to accept submissions to the Express Entry system.<\/p>\n
