In Saskatchewan’s latest\u00a0Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, candidates were invited under the International Skilled Worker Category.<\/p>\n
This category is divided further into two subcategories:\u00a0<\/p>\n
Of those invited, a total of 146\u00a0immigration candidates were invited through the\u00a0Express Entry subcategory. Another 133 were invited through the Occupations In-Demand subcategory.<\/p>\n
To be invited,\u00a0candidates must have submitted an\u00a0Expression of Interest (EOI) profile. They must have also\u00a0scored at least 70 EOI points. In addition, candidates needed work experience in one of 58 in-demand\u00a0occupations.\u00a0These occupations are listed on this government webpage.<\/p>\n
Some of these occupations include educational counsellors, social workers and medical laboratory technicians.<\/p>\n
Saskatchewan uses its EOI system to\u00a0select the candidates that would be the most successful in the province’s labour market. Candidates with EOI profiles are assessed through the system based on multiple factors such as their work experience, education, language ability, age as well as connections to the province.<\/p>\n
Connections to the province can include having a job offer, or having a relative living in Saskatchewan.<\/p>\n
Candidates are given a point score out of 100 based on these factors. and according to the International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid.\u00a0The highest scoring candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination.<\/p>\n

Express Entry is the system that Canada uses to manage permanent residence applications through\u00a0the three main economic class immigration programs:<\/p>\n
Many provinces also have their own immigration programs that use the Express Entry system. An example of this is the Express Entry sub-category\u00a0under the Saskatchewan International Skilled Worker category.<\/p>\n
This sub-category is for immigration candidates interested in immigrating to Saskatchewan, and who also have a federal Express Entry profile.<\/p>\n
Candidates who are in the federal Express Entry pool, who completed an EOI, and scored 70 on Saskatchewan’s Points Assessment Grid, were invited in the latest draw.<\/p>\n
Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan are given an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This practically guarantees receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence\u00a0in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.<\/p>\n
Saskatchewan invited 133 immigration candidates under the Occupations In-Demand sub-category. Unlike the Express Entry sub-category, candidates do not need to have an Express Entry profile to be eligible. This sub-category is for candidates who have work experience in occupations that would address the province\u2019s labour shortages.\u00a0<\/p>\n
These candidates would not need to have a job offer to be eligible. Foreign nationals are required to create an EOI profile through the province’s online application system.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Those who completed an EOI, meet the minimum requirements and have scored a 70 on the Points Assessment Grid, were invited in the latest draw.<\/p>\n
