This draw was the province’s fourth so far this year.\u00a0Invited individuals were invited through one of the following immigration streams through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP):<\/p>\n
The invitations are known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA). The Skilled Workers In Manitoba stream issued\u00a0158 LAA’s to individuals with a minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score of 457.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A total of 21 LAA’s were issued under the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, with a minimum EOI score of 698.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Under the International Education\u00a0Stream, 28 LAA’s were issued. No minimum EOI score is required for this stream.<\/p>\n
The Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream and the Skilled Workers Overseas streams are used by the Manitoba provincial government to fill provincial labour needs.<\/p>\n
Candidates who are applying from outside Canada must have a connection to the province. This includes having close family or friends in Manitoba, previous experience in Manitoba, or an invitation under one of the MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives.<\/p>\n
For this draw, all candidates who were considered for the Skilled Workers Overseas were invited under a Strategic\u00a0Recruitment Initiatives.<\/p>\n
Candidates who are applying through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, do not need to be currently in Canada.<\/p>\n
International students who have in-demand skills and who graduated from an educational institute in Manitoba may also receive an LAA under the International Education Stream.<\/p>\n
Express Entry<\/p>\n
Five LAAs in this draw went to Express Entry candidates. Express Entry is Canada’s main way for skilled workers to immigrate. Candidates can receive a permanent residence invitation by applying through Express Entry directly. Candidates in the Express Entry pool can also receive an invitation from provinces such as Manitoba.<\/p>\n
Candidates who have an Express Entry profile are ranked according to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). They are assessed on factors such as age, work experience, education and language ability.<\/p>\n
Immigration,\u00a0Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invites the highest-ranking candidates to apply for permanent residence in regular Express Entry draws.<\/p>\n
Those who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600\u00a0CRS points, practically guaranteeing an invitation in a subsequent Express Entry draw.<\/p>\n
