Canada held perhaps its most historic Express Entry draw ever on Saturday February 13, 2021.<\/p>\n
The rare Saturday draw saw 27,332 immigration candidates receive invitations to apply for permanent residence.<\/p>\n
In addition to being by far the largest Express Entry draw ever, it also had the lowest Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) requirement of all time. Candidates only needed a CRS score of 75 to receive an invitation as long as they uploaded their\u00a0Express Entry profile before September 12, 2020 at 15:31 UTC.<\/p>\n
Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) operates Express Entry as the main way to welcome skilled immigrants to Canada.<\/p>\n
Express Entry is an application management system for three programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.<\/p>\n

In step one, you need to confirm you are eligible for one of these three programs. You then upload your profile onto IRCC’s website. You receive a\u00a0Comprehensive Ranking System\u00a0(CRS) score based on your human capital factors such as your age, education, language skills, and work experience.<\/p>\n
In step two, IRCC issues\u00a0Invitations to Apply\u00a0(ITA) for permanent residence to candidates every two weeks or so. Usually ITAs are issued to candidates with the highest CRS scores but IRCC has adapted its policies due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n
IRCC is aiming to welcome 401,000 new immigrants this year through its Immigration Levels Plan.\u00a0To achieve this target, IRCC is inviting more candidates from within Canada. IRCC research shows that candidates with Canadian work and\/or study experience are able to integrate very quickly into the labour market.<\/p>\n
Canada’s Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino says the country remains committed to welcoming more immigrants from within its borders as well as from overseas in order to support its post-pandemic economic recovery.<\/p>\n
IRCC aims to welcome some 110,000 immigrants through Express Entry each year between 2021 and 2023.<\/p>\n
