Based on data from the most recent Rent Report by Rentals.ca, the following will list the cheapest and most expensive cities for renters according to the average cost of a one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment in November 2023.<\/p>\n
Note:\u00a0The full report lists the average rental costs for 35 cities across Canada<\/p>\n
The five most expensive cities to rent a property in<\/p>\n
As expected, all five of the cities on this list are located in larger Canadian provinces such as Ontario (ON) and British Columbia (BC).\u00a0In fact, 23 of Canada’s 25 most expensive rental markets were located in these two provinces (14 in ON and nine in BC).\u00a0The top five are as follows:<\/p>\n
Vancouver, BC\u00a0<\/p>\n
1-bedroom: $2,872\u00a0<\/p>\n
2-bedroom: $3,777<\/p>\n
Burnaby, BC<\/p>\n
1-bedroom: $2,647\u00a0<\/p>\n
2-bedroom: $3,341<\/p>\n
Toronto, ON<\/p>\n
1-bedroom: $2,607<\/p>\n
2-bedroom: $3,424<\/p>\n
Oakville, ON<\/p>\n
1-bedroom: $2,524<\/p>\n
2-bedroom: $3,337<\/p>\n
Mississauga, ON<\/p>\n
1-bedroom: $2,352<\/p>\n

The five least expensive cities to rent a property in<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Canada’s five least expensive cities by average rent were all located in the country’s prairie provinces, Saskachewan (SK), Alberta (AB) and Manitoba (MB). Specifically , the five cheapest cities to rent in Canada, according to the latest rent report, were:<\/p>\n
