Just under half (43%) of all companies that participated in the\u00a0survey indicated an intention\u00a0to \u201cgrant an additional average salary budget of one percent\u201d<\/p>\n<p>2. Certain sectors are considered \u201clikely\u201d to see wage increases above the national average (up to 3.9%). These sectors include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Science,\u00a0Technology, Engineering and\u00a0Mathematics\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Real Estate\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Manufacturing\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Accommodation and Food Services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3. Certain provinces \u2013 Quebec (3.7%), Yukon (3.6%), Ontario (3.6%) and British Columbia (3.6%) \u2013 are expected to see salary increases at or above the national projected average for 2024<\/p>\n<p>4. Canada\u2019s remaining nine provinces and territories are projected to experience wage increases slightly below the 3.6% national average<\/p>\n<p>Note: Employed Canadians in the Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island are projected to receive average salary increases of 3.3%<\/p>\n<p>What this means for newcomers to Canada<\/p>\n<p>An increase in average salary is undoubtedly a positive development for all residents of Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Considering that the recent\u00a02023 Best Countries rankings by U.S. News placed\u00a0Canada third among 87 countries for quality of life, the projected salary increases in 2024 should only help to solidify the strong quality of life available to all inhabitants of\u00a0this country.
